Review a Set at Its Intended Size
Use the actual viewing context to judge legibility and repetition.
The decision
A photograph that works at full screen may become confusing in a small album tile. Review size is part of the output, not an afterthought.
A practical sequence
Determine the expected display area from the recipient requirements or a realistic mock-up. Place the exported files into that context. Check whether the subject remains recognizable, captions are readable if present, and neighboring frames are sufficiently distinct. Then inspect a larger sample for technical artifacts that the small layout might hide. Make changes to the selected source version rather than repeatedly saving a compressed export.
Worked example
In a small event recap, a wide crowd image may reduce faces to unreadable dots, while a tighter interaction gives the reader a clear point of interest. Two subtle landscape variations may appear identical at thumbnail size. The right response may be selecting a different photograph, not adding more sharpening.
What can go wrong
Do not equate “looks fine on my phone” with readiness for a large print. Keep separate checks for different uses. If a publishing tool crops images automatically, inspect the published-layout preview before assuming that the export edges will survive.
Your completion record
Record the reviewed context and one observation about the set. A file can be finished for a web tile yet require another version for print; purpose-specific completion avoids both overediting and unsupported quality claims.
Before continuing, check the record against the actual files rather than relying on memory. Keep uncertain decisions labeled as uncertain. The next useful step is the specific task named in your completion record, not a fresh pass through the entire archive.
Use the same display size for neighboring photographs during comparison. A larger preview can make one frame seem more compelling only because it occupies more space. Equal sizing helps the selection reflect the image rather than the review layout.
